CWLP Layoff Notifications
March 1, 2010 - Layoff notices were delivered to 58 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local #193 members throughout CWLP as a result of a lack of concessions by that union. IBEW was offered salary increase deferrals and was asked to take furlough days to help offset the reduction in revenues for this upcoming fiscal year. Those concessions, offered by CWLP, would have resulted in no layoffs. These 58 layoffs will be for 30 days, effective March 1st, 2010.
Five members of International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local #399 and four members of the Fireman/Oilers union also received layoff notifications to meet Federal COBRA subsidy eligibility requirements; however those groups have scheduled votes next week on concessions that could reverse this action.
